Hello everyone and welcome back to leaving lesser! I am so glad that you are here! Today we are going to talk about prioritizing what’s really important. In todays society it is very easy to get our priorities all out of wack and it’s so hard to balance everything properly. We’re all so busy trying to live our best lives that we forget about what is really important, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and our relationship with Him. I know that I personally find myself getting lost in the mundane works of life trying to do the best that I can to make everything run smoothly for myself and my family (I’m sure that I am not the only one), but God spoke to me this evening as I was reading this lesson to the children at our church. In Luke chapter 10 we are told of two sisters, Martha and Mary, welcoming Jesus into their home. Martha works very hard to prepare her home and to welcome Christ into her home while Mary just sits at His feet listening to Jesus’s teachings and not helping her sister prepare their home for Him. Martha begins to get frustrated at her sister for not helping and asks Jesus to tell her to help. Luke 10:41-42 (KJV) says “And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
As I was reading this I couldn’t help but realize that I am so much like Martha. I’m that person that tries so hard to prepare to live well and to do well when the most important thing that I need to do doesn’t need preparation, the most important thing for me to do is to just listen and spend time with God and those who matter in my life. God doesn’t need my home to be perfect, He doesn’t need my life to be perfect, and He doesn’t need me to be perfect. He doesn’t need me to spend all of my time preparing for Him, He just needs me to welcome Him, hear Him, and to be with Him. Jesus has already prepared for us all that we need, we just need to follow Him. Now I’m not saying that we don’t need to do anything at all ever, but we do need to be more mindful about how we are prioritizing our time and what we are doing with our time. God first, everything else after. So if Jesus comes knocking at your door, right now, you better stop right where you are and listen to Him. I know this is a short post but God was leading me to share this message today. I pray that this has touched someones heart today. I pray that this has helped someone to slow down and listen to what God is calling them to do. I pray that you have been encouraged today to grow closer to God. I pray that you have been able to leave the lesser you behind to become more like Jesus. Thank you for joining me today as we studied a little bit about what God’s word says about prioritizing our time properly. I hope you have a blessed day!
~Love and prayers, Nadene
